Summary Background on the FICS Foundation

FICS (the Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport or International Federation of Sports Chiropractic – is the international organization representing the specialty field of sports chiropractic. It was established in 1987 and has offices in Toronto, Canada and Lausanne, Switzerland. Its members are national chiropractic sports councils in all world regions, the largest being the American Chiropractic Association Sports Council (ACASC).

The FICS Foundation is the charitable organization affiliated with FICS. It supports education, research and voluntary service and its vision is:

The vision of the Foundation is that it will have such a substantial impact on the development of the specialty of sports chiropractic and the welfare of athletes that within 10 years all athletes will have access to sports chiropractic care as an integral part of the sports medicine services offered to them in training and competition, thereby improving athletes’ choice of care and global sports performance.

The Foundation is registered as a non-profit corporation in the State of Massachusetts and has been granted Section 501 (c) (3) status by the IRS in the USA.

A priority of the Foundation is assisting athletes with disabilities, from community level to elite athletes, and in developed and developing countries.
